Where we give

One of the primary objectives of the Foundation is to promote beneficial change in our local communities.

By concentrating on particular localities, we believe we are able to develop a good working knowledge of the social needs in these regions, and so maximise the impact of our grant-making.

Our giving is focused on the following areas of the UK:
  • Westminster (parts of the old Metropolitan Borough of Westminster, approximately defined here http://goo.gl/maps/sMj8H).
  • Cheshire West and Chester.
  • North West Rural Lancashire (near the Forest of Bowland).
  • North West Sutherland.
Each of these areas has its own characteristics and its own needs. The mixture of urban cityscapes (in Central London and Chester) with rural landscapes (like Reay Forest) creates a complex picture. At the Westminster Foundation, we use the local knowledge of the Grosvenor Estate teams in these areas to direct our grant-making.

Outside these areas, in communities where Grosvenor has carried out major property developments (or is in the process of doing so) the Trustees have chosen to make grants through local Community Foundations. An example of this is The Liverpool ONE Fund, managed by the Community Foundation for Merseyside.
